Below, describe in detail the character traits of your favorite character from Romeo and Juliet. Imagine you are a journalist or reporter for a tabloid, radio program or TV program such as the famous TV program "E" You must tell your audience about one of the characters from the Broadway hit "Romeo and Juliet ." You may upload your wordperfect document, type up rightht here or record what you want to say and upload it here. Just remember to put the name of the character you are describing and your name on your work. Have fun.
I will continue to give you time in class to complete this but you would be wise to do some work at home or at a friends if you want a really good mark. In case you weren't paying attention in class today, here are the instructions again:
Goal = to demonstrate a strong understanding of characters from the play "Romeo and Juliet"
Purpose = understanding classical literature
How = by writing about, talking about and/or acting like the characters from the play, "Romeo and Juliet."
To do this you can either
A) Write a brief biography describing your favorite character from the play. You should include all their character traits -known and imagined. Your pre-writing work must be first shown to your teacher using your notebooks.
B) Broadcast a podcast imitating a radio show discussing or interviewing your favorite character from the play. You must write your dialogue and show your work to your teacher using your notebooks.
C) Video tape an interview or show imitating a program like "E" where you talk about or interview one of the characters from the play. You must write your dialogue and show your work to your teacher using your notebooks.
Grading Rubric:
Pre-writing = 10% as part of the management of the assignment
Following instructions and presenting work on time = 20% for the rest of the management of the assignment
Voice (creativity, fun, interest) = 30%
Command of language (grammar -must include appositives) = 35%
Presentation (neatness and delivery) = 5%
Total = 100%
We only have a week to work on this so don't waste time. Use the character you have already chosen to describe. Most of you have chosen very interesting characters and described them very well in my opinion. Those students that have already handed in their notebooks or sent me emails on their favorite characters will receive an automatic 5 to 10% bonus to their final product (that's practically the whole class -bravo!) So don't spoil it by not doing the work you must do to finish this project.
You may work together, but each person must hand in their notes, their writing and their own final product to receive a passing grade. Those students that hand their work on time or help others with their projects will earn extra points to their own final grade. For example, if student A, helps student B with their podcast or video, they will receive an additional 5% towards their own project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
